I was born and educated in Scotland and graduated with M.A. (Hons.) from Glasgow University in 1972. I followed a career teaching english literature both in the UK and in Europe, returning to the UK in 2002 whereupon I critique book reviews.   Words aren't just my work - they're my passion.

I offer a book critiquing service for authors.  Critique may sound like criticism, but that's not what my service is about.  I see it as my role to encourage and inspire writers, so I keep my book critiques constructive and sensitive.   I'm honest about the areas I feel need work, but also tell authors what's good in their writing.
